How are rentals in January?
I realize January is one of the slowest rental months for self-storage but curious if you are ahead of last January rentals?

We have exceeded the rentals for the last two Januarys, and haven't finished the month. Looking to beat the last two combined, with a little luck.
There seems to be a more positive feeling here this winter than last, so maybe, maybe, things are looking better for 2010.Bob Taylor (Astro)

things are picking up...
We have exceeded last year but are less than '08 so far...but only by 3 rentals....I have had a good bit of traffic the last couple of weeks. My fingers, eyes & toes are crossed for a better 2010!

We are up - WOO HOO!
As of January 23rd
2008 21 rentals 17 move outs
2009 20 rentals 20 move outs
2010 30 rentals 17 move outs (11 of these were auctioned
)
So I'd say we're doing great.
And even though I'm having to do DEEP move-in discounts to keep up with the competition (35 facilities within 10 miles) my deposits are higher, too
.
Here's hoping that we (all of us here on SST, not just me) will continue this trend all year and beyond.MamaDuke

so far this month 5 IN, 5 OUT --- sounds sad, but I'll take it.
Have a feeling we will end down as we have a few more scheduled to move out, but it wont be anything like the last three months - you'd of thought the place was on fire

9 in 13 out with a few vacates left to go. I'm with Wayne, though, these are better numbers than we've had since August 09.
I'm hoping for a turnaround.

Here in Michigan:
20 Move ins
10 Move outs
1 Scheduled move out for Jan 31
We've been in business for 4.5 years and have only had 3 or 4 months where we went down in total tenants. The past couple of months have been extremely well compared to the last two years.
Jan 2009
12 Move ins
5 move outs
