Thread: Missing phone calls

Wanted to find out how many of you handle phone calls when you are on the lot showing a unit to a prospective tenant, or on the lot with the blower on & can't hear phone if you have it forwarded to your cell!!! Do you have an answering service or do you just hope they leave a message & then call them back?

I didn't used to be so concerned about this operating a 94+% occupancy facility, I really thought they'd call back-no problem... but at a new facility, I don't want to miss any calls from potential customers!! (Yikes...I just realized this sounds like I wasn't too concerned re: EVERY call..hmmmm)

Being a one-trick (old) pony, I trust voice mail. Then, make sure to call them back.

yup, you can also look at your caller id and see if anyone called while you were out, then call them back even if they didn't leave a message!

That's my trick too. ESP when Murphy requires that when tenants/potential tenants call, there will be one more tenant than you have lines, and that the call you miss MUST be the prospective tenant.

Working for a call center, you can always have one setup to take rollover calls and messages. Kinda like a doctors office does.

Jrwnath, do you work at a storage specific call center? If so, I work at a storage specific call center as well. PhoneSmart answers calls for hundreds of different storage companies in the US and Canada.

I was initially pretty surprised at the amount of people who are looking for storage late at night, and how many missed calls alot of our clients would miss after normal business hours. Still, the majority of our calls at night usually pertain to people who want in their unit after hours, or locked themselves within the gates. (Always a fun call)
