Hours, days, salary cuts ????
Has any one experienced having their hours cut? Staff reduction? A cut in pay?
There still seems to be some economic fallout occuring from place to place. I was just wondering if any one has felt it their paychecks lately. I have heard of companies making recent cutbacks with their employees.

No, no changes here.
But to say the least there will be widespread 'economic fallout' for a long-time U.S. and worldwide I'm afraid.

Nope, no hours cut...but when I look around my office for help, all I see is me!! Two years ago, there was about 6 of us in this office. While my paycheck hasn't grown, I do still have a job--and for that I am very thankful.

We just increased rents, are full...We're doing OK I suppose, though I just read a report saying Oklahoma is oversupplied for storage. No paycuts here. *beats the heck outta the wood*

Re: Hours, days, salary cuts ????
the worst part about all this is two-fold: first, the uncertainty so many folks have talked about; what is coming next and what will it cost, two questions no one can answer. Second, how many companies that have had layoffs have adapted, providing little reason for new hiring until and unless there is a big uptick in business? Lot of companies laid people off early on and many have figured out how to do the same, or even more, with fewer people.

6 people? Is that for storage only? what size? Anyhow, usually the part timers go then hours. I did not rehire, which is better than laying off, from July 2008 till June 2009 because the phone stopped ringing. But that's not a problem now.

I've seen some adjustments in some areas. Usually in the hours per week as things get leaner.

Re: Hours, days, salary cuts ????
The economy is so bad , and we have gone from almost full to a drop of almost 20% ... all efforts to advertise and marketing are not working and we are so worried about the owners not being able to make their payments and up keep for the property that a month ago we offered to take a pay cut by half. I know you probably think this is nuts but they have been good to us and I don't mind helping them out too. It was rejected but we will leave it open ..
As storage managers we see all the trends , and the worst one I see is that companies are letting go their full time employees to hire part timers at minimum wage, and no benefits. Families are being destroyed, and some old people sleeping in friends back yards or in the desert because they cant afford a place to live and cant get a part time job either .. I thank God we have such great owners, and a really great Management company to work for .. We put forth 110% daily , always looking for the best way to save, even pennies count now.
So NO we have not been cut yet, but since we are willing to work with the management, and I think them knowing that it is OK if the time comes, that they wont feel bad about having to do it, and we wont take it personally.
You know some facility owners are faced with or may soon be faced with the possibility of closing their doors, and we feel that the spirit of cooperation by managers is needed now , more than ever before. You know 1/2 pay is better than no pay and no place to live.

No cutbacks here either, but my occupancy is down from 95% to 89%. Hope we will see some improvements there this year. We were recently turned over to a management company, so we will see what they do. Think it is going to all work out great.
