As a former member of the military (US NAVY) I refuse to pursue action against any member of the military.

I was able to avoid any conflicts (good timing) but I know what it is like to be away from home and have no contact with anyone for months on end.

I will attempt to contact the next of kin, but I will not harass them. If I have to I will sit on it for 10 years!!!

I am also thankful to Mel and his son for the sacrifice you are both making. My hat is off to the both of you!

You could always check Jail! Then you can serve them with the lien notice there and know that they have been notified and proceed with the rest of your process - sometimes they will get a hold of someone on the 'outside' to come and pay and empty out the unit.

Default Oklahoma lien law abandonment clause

I'm going to get my lawyer to look it over, but the oklahoma lien law has a section that seems to say if the rent is 30 days late and you haven't heard from the renter, you send them a certified letter, if you have no response or the letter is undeliverable, after 15 days you can dispose of the stuff as you see fit. We're buying an existing storage (closing in 1 week) and the previous owner has been just selling off or throwing away contents after 60 days total with out payment with a certified letter going out at 30 days. No sale notices or anything for the last 12 years.
