Default Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?

We know it's not really PC to say Merry Christmas to people we don't really know, but yet we still hear it this time of year.

What do you say to tenants: The PC Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas? Have you ever had a tenant offended by a cheerful "Merry Christmas"? Have you ever been offended by the sentiment?

This brings up another point: holiday decorations. Who has a Christmas tree in their office? Do you string up lights? Have a dancing Santa or a few reindeer? Or do you try to keep it holiday festive but neutral?

I have tenants from around the world and of every religion possible and not a one has ever been offended by a Santa Claus lookalike like me saying Merry Christmas. I don't take offense if they express their religious greeting during their holidays, that is what I served twenty one years for, "Freedom". I used to put up a tree, but his highness thought it was politically incorrect so I put my personal tree up just above the office doors with the drapes pulled back and well lighted for the season.

From what I recall, "Happy Holidays" is waaaay older than that PC BS. It covers anything, even if someone doesn't 'celebrate' and has a real attitude about it, it's still a holiday season.

And no, I do not ever recall being offended...I've been perturbed before by "Festivus" but then I'm a notorius UNfan of Whine...I mean Seinfeld!

Each year, I make a non-stop crockpot of hot holiday cider*, running from just after Thanksgiving until we close on New Years Eve. Other than that, no decorations, or celebrations.

That's right. A "safe" thing to say, regardless of what you lump under being PC. On that note, anyone else going to dance naked under the stars (clouds?) and moon on December 21st? It will not only be the Winter Solstice, but a full moon, as well...

I always say Merry Christmas. Never has anyone been offended.

I also highly decorate the office. Our property looks like Christmas threw up on it! We REALLY get into the spirit. Then when it all comes down in January, the office looks naked! Never a complaint about that, either. But our outdoor lights have brought us a couple of new customers...that are still with us.

We even decorate the golf cart!

Sorry James, I won't be dancing naked on the 21st. However, I'll be the one with the camera & telephoto lens sitting on top of Pitco Foods across the street from you to record your Solstice dance for posterity's sake! Remember, we do have an official "Self Storage Photo" thread.
