:confused:We got a call the morning of the last auction that someone would call in a payment at 1:00, auction is at 10:30, (its in the letter, that was "unclaimed") too bad, yep other manager got a call after 1:00 and was told it was gone and they asked if she was kidding, nope!

I got a call today from someone who was auctioned 3 auctions ago wondering if anyone here had his "important" papers, court documents, ss cards, etc. Nope, you picked up what the buyer brought to us and most likely ended up in the dump. He said how do we know it went to the dump, I don't but how do I know it was in his unit? Real simple concept, pay for your %^&* storage and what you put there, stays there.

Funny about the personal affects that are turned in, including cremains, pictures, yearbooks, etc. In over 6 years only 2 or 3 people have picked them up! How can anybody leave poor ole Uncle Bob or whomever in a storage unit to be auctioned off?

People are nuts.

Thanks, I feel so much better now. :)

All of us at Self-Storage Talk and Inside Self-Storage would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the Florida Self Storage Association and the family of Robert Bret who apparently died while vacationing with his family. We do not yet have details regarding what happened. Robert was executive director of the FSSA and recently spoke at the ISS Expo. According to Lewis Pollack, FSSA president, a memorial service will be held on June 27 at 3 p.m. at Christ Fellowship Church, 5343 Northlake Blvd., in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. A reception will follow at the residence of Robert’s sister, Nicole Hardy.

Please feel free to post any thoughts of remembrance and share any memories of Robert in this thread.

Has anyone done this? thoughts? and if you have where is best place to purchase them at?

I've been thinking about implementing free Wi-Fi. Of course, I’m a newbie and want to implement everything but the competition is directly across the street and is a brand new facility which I know has been shopping me to adjust rates. Currently, the only ‘extras’ my assistant and I have that they do not is water spigots located throughout the facility, units w/electricity included in rent, taking bottled vitamin water to move-ins dripping with sweat and our perky personalities! All of which have been successful mind you however, I want the facility to feel like ‘home’, a place to stay long-term especially for businesses and this would only be offered to units on the larger side. So, is this a good idea or does it have catastrophe written all over it?

I have no idea where to start except I’m sure it involves a router. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I couldn't locate a previous post on this although…I’m sure it’s out here somewhere. :)
I have't visited my locker since then. Two years later, I remembered that my stuffs are at Toronto. I don't have my locker number, no locker keys. At the time I visit them as of late, I clarified my situation to the staffs, they instantly sprang into activities, a brisk hunt in their framework with my Id, they placed my locker number in a matter of seconds, a snappy bolt curtail service and a new lock, presto, I am all hands on deck.

If so, what price do you charge per month for each? Where do get your supply?

How successful is the upsell and what tenant types are usually interested?...

I just had an interview for a storage job but think I messed it up by not wanting to state likes and dislikes about the last job (orange door place). I eventually gave a couple of examples but those type of questions always make me nervous, which leads to too much smiling and a little laughing. I also had no marketing ideas to share. I think I remember why I hate job hunting! Maybe a few more interviews will iron out these kind of wrinkles. I'm seeing a few more openings around me but all seem like 2 day work week or couples only.

This was only my second interview since I started job hunting, thought I had done very well at the first place but never heard back and when I called back the person I needed to talk to was not available and I just left my name. Probably a good thing because CalTrans closed the freeway on-ramp I would have used to drive to work and it would now take an extra half hour to get there due to road construction traffic.

Hey Everyone...

Nick DiUlio here again from SpareFoot.com. I'm reaching out on a somber note this morning...

I'm currently working on an article about how self-storage facilities in the Oklahoma City area—particularly ones in Moore, OK—are coping in the aftermath of the tornado. How are their businesses doing? How are they doing personally? How was their business or home affected? Have they seen a lot of demand for self-storage since the tornado struck?

I most certainly don't want to be intrusive or insensitive. I simply want to share their stories with our readers.

If you were affected by the OK tornado this week (or know someone who has) my deepest sympathies go out to you. Please let me know if you would like to share your story with me sometime this week or next.

Best,
