  • Networking Stand Alone Sitelink -

Does anyone know whether or not you can network sitelink on two different computers without having to go web edition?
    TIA !

Hello, you can. You have to map a network drive to the shared folder where your sitelink database is located.

On the second computer you start up sitelink and go to database management and point the database to the mapped drive.

Yea, we do that here. That's exactly how we do it. The only issue we have had is with the gate controller. If you don't do move-ins and other actions that affect the gate from the main computer. If that doesn't make sense, let me know and I will try to explain better.

What gate controller are you using? We did it successfully with the PTi Falcon setup

We don't have coded gates,we have a security company that opens the gates at 6 a.m and they close at 9 p.m. So, no codes. Just keys that are given to our best of the best customers if they need after hours access. I just need to know how to explain to my tech guys. Thanks !

We have Quikstor. Because we network to the main computer for sitelink, anything that is done for one computer happens to the other. So if I try to change the path for where to find the gate file, it changes it for the main computer. Then the main computer cannot find the file. I would love for you to tell me I can fix this!?!

It is really simple. On your secondary computer, just right click on MY COMPUTER or THIS PC and click "Map Network Drive". Select a drive and browse to the computer on the network and the folder where the file is stored. If you can't find any computers on your network you may have not allowed the right settings or permissions for those folders. Let me know if you need any more help.

I will post how we had it set up for PTi and maybe you can setup the Quikstor the same:

                    Main Computer Share directories:
                    C;\PTi
                    C:\f2000
                    C:\.......\Sitelink

                    Second Terminal Map the following

                    f2000 X:\
                    PTi Y:\
                    Sitelink Z:\

                    --------
Sitelink on main computer pointed to c:\PTi\ptisend.bat

                    ..ptisend.bat
                    cd\pti
                    sci update.dat alarm.alm
                    copy update.dat update.old
                    copy pti.dat pti.old
                    copy pti.dat c:\f2000
                    del pti.dat

Sitelink on second terminal pointed to c:\PTi\ptisend.bat

                    ..ptisend.bat (2nd term)
                    cd\pti
                    copy update.dat update.old
                    copy update.dat y:\
                    y:
                    sci update.dat alarm.alm
                    copy update.dat update.old
                    copy pti.dat pti.old
                    copy pti.dat x:\
                    del update.dat
                    del pti.dat

                    ---
We have been on web edition for a while now, and running the Storlogix now from PTi. Most of what I posted above was from my notes, (written at 2am or so when I got our facilities set up.

                      The issue Is right Here:

Sitelink on second terminal pointed to c:\PTi\ptisend.bat

                      ..ptisend.bat (2nd term)
                      cd\pti
                      copy update.dat update.old
                      copy update.dat y:\
                      y:
                      sci update.dat alarm.alm
                      copy update.dat update.old
                      copy pti.dat pti.old
                      copy pti.dat x:\
                      del update.dat
                      del pti.dat

I cannot point to C:\quikstor\genlink.fil on the second computer because it is mapped to the T:\ Drive (In Your Example Y:\) So if I change it to match the mapped drive, it will change it on the main computer as well. Then the main computer cannot find it. Do you see where I am stuck? Is this making sense lol

Is there a batch file that is used by Sitelink to communicate with Quikstore or does Sitelink just point to the genlink.fil file?

He said I need it today! Second red flag! He said he needed an 8x10 or a 10x10. I have a couple open 5x10 units but no 10x10. I did not...

Background checks, and credit checks, for a person to rent a storage unit, is a slippery slope for sure! I Pac has the best method, which is to say there are no vacancies, until he can tell that the person will not be a PITA. Everyone has a past, some complaints, maybe even some convictions.
