  • Post date move in

Hi all, We use Storedge - does anyone know if you can post date a move in? Support is lame - takes too long to get back to you. Thanks

  • #2
Hi SecureStore! I'll send you a DM to get you more help, but just to clarify an answer on this question for the whole board, storEDGE does not allow for postdating a move-in (aka, entering a future date for a move-in). In these situations, you can instead create a reservation and take payment from the tenant.

Great concise info to the point. Doesn't get any better than that.

I'm sorry that you feel that storEDGE support is lame.
I understand that you would be looking for an immediate response to your question.
My question to you is why would you want to "post date a move in"?

Do you want the ability to allow someone to physically move in the unit and then post the date for a date in the future?

In your words, that is lame, as you so eloquently put it.

Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can do today.

No wise guy the idea is that if a customer needs to move in over a period that our office is closed then why would they have to pay for days prior to their actual move in? I know your a giant proponent of SE but please excuse my limited knowledge of the way SE works. We are only a SE customer for a month .

By the way their support team called me and gave me a couple options to resolve our issue. If you could speak with a human every time I had a question that would be great. Also, the tech support person told me they will revising the software to allow post dated move ins because they received many requests for this. I guess I'm not the only lame person out here Lady.

I do this often in Site link. Usually, around this time of year, college kids tend to set their move in ahead of schedule. Most come in about two weeks short of move in and want to pay for the full 4months ahead of time(mommy and daddy do this to save money) I then move them in for the specified date and complete every step. Rule I follow is, it must be 2 weeks or less wait time. I hate running it as a reservation, because they are prepaying in full. I hate the way reservations look on my vacant unit report which I post daily for potential customers to see.

Rent today, change the rent due day to a different day, it will prorate the rent fee then waive the pro rated rent take a full months rent and there you are. The best way though is the way Jana said.

I don't hold or reserve units for anyone. if they want to guarantee that they have that unit in 2-3 weeks they rent it now and there is no post dating of days or anything like that. I stay full so if they want to do it another way, there are other facilities around. But hell, then they wouldn't get to see Mr. Cheery! ME! I am in the business to rent storage units, not hold them or play with the dates. The weather is great and life is easy. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Don't worry, your skin gets thicker as you go along. Saying "support is lame" without details why is not the best thing to do. You just said it takes too long to get back to you and then that is why you said it was lame. Some people have more patience than others. Take myself for instance. If my BBQ plate is empty I have no patience for when it will be full again but IT/Tech help takes a little longer since I know there are "more empty plates" out there than just mine.

I used to do post dated move ins as well before switching to StorEdge. I was disappointed to see them not there as an option when I switched. But people have not really complained since I made the change. We used to post date rentals for people who wanted to move in over a weekend when we were closed. I have not lost any customers since I made the change. And I am not sure I would change back if and when StorEdge puts that feature in.

And just who are you calling a "wise guy"?
Certainly not me, I would hope.
At one of the 2 locations that I run, I do have to be quite creative in how I do move-in's as I am always at one site more than the other.
For the location that I run by appointment only they way I handle move-in's that will need to physically take place when I will not be there is pretty simple.

So the tenant needs to physically utilize the space on Saturday. Easy enough! They move in on Friday during normal business hours.
And by "move-in" that simply means they come to the property to inspect the unit, supply ID and pay at that time.

And for the record, I do not appreciate your snarkiness in this matter.
You were mostly rude in your original post and I called you out on it.
I am aware that reading words can absolutely be taken out of context so I will choose to take the high road and I will forgive you in advance.

                              Have an awesome day!

We just started last month renting on line and it is working good so far. We have Kiosks and there is not a lot of difference But you know nothing is perfect. I guess you could call it the future.

We use storEDGE and have been asking for the feature since 2014 when we switched from sitelink stand alone. We were told that they would be adding the feature soon, and that has yet to ever happen. We offer RV Storage, and so say if a customer comes in on the 15th but won't need it until the 1st, we...

My wife and I ran a property down in Dallas. We were right down town in a very bad part of Dallas. Lots of transients and drugs were rampant. The reason I mention all of that is it did not make a difference to us. When we left one my homeless people that I had to bicker with fairly often came up...
