  • It's Official! I'm in the Mobile Storage Business!

I am now officially in the mobile storage business and going to tie this into our self-storage business.

Anyone else on the forums in mobile storage? Whether Big or Small?

Mobile storage does sound like an interesting concept, although am not sure how that works. Wishing you luck with your business and if you could share a bit about it?

Mobile storage is a business that solves a lot of problems for people that fixed storage do not. It is a fast-growing service business with a high-enough barrier to entry that not just anyone with a piece of land or an unused warehouse can enter the business.

That is very true if you try to get into it without a self storage facility. We have looked into adding it onto our self storage facility and that price tag is much much lower than just outright geting into mobile storage alone.

Jeff, how big is your mobile storage part of your business, how many containers do you have?

We have 6 unassembled 10' X 10' portable storage units that we MUST sell. They are in State College PA on pallets. Must sell all of them together. If I should post this somewhere else, PLEASE let me know where. Portable units Flyer revised.pdf Portable units Flyer revised.pdf

Just before close at 6 PM I had a call from a young guy asking if I had ANY units. First red flag there. I asked if he knew what size he needed and when he needed it. He said I need it today! Second red flag! He said he needed an 8x10 or a 10x10. I have a couple open 5x10 units but no 10x10. I did not...

Background checks, and credit checks, for a person to rent a storage unit, is a slippery slope for sure! I Pac has the best method, which is to say there are no vacancies, until he can tell that the person will not be a PITA. Everyone has a past, some complaints, maybe even some convictions. You cannot...

We've just assumed they have no idea what they are doing. It's hard to keep a straight face sometimes. Or those people who can't get their unit open and they just need to push down with their foot to slide the latch. It's so satisfying to go all the way out there and open it immediately when they've...
