Thread: BIG Changes!

Hello to all my wonderful SST Friends!! I am writing this today sitting at a new facility, working for a wonderful new company and very happy....

My lack of participation on the boards was mainly due to the fact that I was told to stay off of them....Now I work for a company that approves!

For the past two years I have been trying to get out of the job I was in. Self Storage is my passion and finding a job was tough! I interviewed with one local mom and pop, and then a huge company out of Mississippi. Both were fantastic! But just not the right fit.

Living on site is very difficult. You can't just up and quit. You have to find a job, a place to move, give a notice and then somehow make it all happen with perfect timing! I can only give the good Lord credit for opening all the right doors at the right time.

I started watching the company I work for now about three years ago. They really impressed me and I watched them grow and grow and grow. I wanted to be a part of that company. The facilities are beautiful, classy and state of the art. I finally befriended someone thru Face Book, of all places! And one day just shot an email. I was interviewing the next day. Sitting in a conference room with the very folks that I had been watching. It was like meeting a Rock Star LOL!! Luckily, with my ISS Magazine Marketing Write Up and my SST Star feature, I was impressive. THANK YOU ISS!! AND SST!!! They offered me a position. They also offered my hubby a position. We are truly on Cloud 9!

But a most special THANK YOU to LISA T! She has been my inspiration for making the decision to make this move. We now live off site. In the Country! On an acre lot. It is so nice to hear birds in the morning instead of Penske Trucks. It is so nice to leave work and go home! It is so nice to not have folks knocking on my door at 9pm saying, I hate to bother you BUT........

Anyway, didn't mean to write a novel. I also want to say a Very Special Thank You to our Girl Gina! She has been a wonderful friend to me during this transition! Even though I wasn't posting much, I was lurking!

(big gulp) I hope you had already vacated the previous premises before I emailed you there I did think it odd that you did not write back, and then the one post that came right after my email was quite unlike you...

Well thank you MusicCity Gal!!!! As much as I LOVE working in storage, my top-secret dream job has always been to be "Dear Abby"...so this forum is great...I get to be the "Dear Lisa" of the storage world!!!!

I'm glad to see someone take my advice (after 49 years of offering it up freely with no takers), and to have them be so happy after taking it!

We have been living off-site now for 5 months, and I still can't believe how good it is.....come to think of it, I didn't live at a storage facility for 45 years, and did live at one for 4 years...you think it wouldn't make me be so happy to not live at one anymore???

Anyway, if anyone else would like to write to "Dear Lisa", I do have loads of valuable advice left to give....all you have to do is ask! lol....
