Re: Storage Wars
If this is a real lien sale, how can they keep people out with that release?
That silly release would not trump your state lien laws.
Some people do not wish to be blasted all over the airwaves. I know some of our bidders would like it some, not so much.
I would guess that they would just blur out you face if you do not agree?
Hope it was a good day. Can't wait to see the show.

Cool. I'm a little taken back by how many people are asking me about this show. Also, I'm suddenly getting people emailing and coming up to me asking when is our next auction is. We've gotta work some more PR out of this as it creating some good buzz and conversation which can lead to more people thinking about storage.

You could have some real fun with a flyer that people could fill out so you could notify them when the next auction takes place. You are not guaranteeing them that you will have TV cameras there, but it would certainly give you a hook to develop an email database of future bidders. Also if folks are interested in auctions, they may just have extra stuff to store. You also could develop a Storage Wars Special rental program of some type. I have heard of a few people who lend out a Video camera to new tenants to allow them to record the things that they are putting into their unit. When the customer is finished, they return the camera and you burn them a DVD of the footage as a value added service. A side benefit is that you also know what has been placed into the unit.

Re: Storage Wars
Maybe a better understanding of what happens when you don't pay your bills will help encourage renters to not go into default.

dakselfstorage: They also made every person in the crowd sign a release form before they entered the property. I think the sign was just an added precaution. A couple of my regulars knew we were filming and decided not to come!
MisterJim: I love the idea of a Storage Wars program of some sort. I'll give that some thought.MamaDuke

Mister Jim - great ideas ... were gonna brainstorm this one some more ...
That release is fairly standard action for filiming as its just a shotgun CYA they seem to use in public/private spaces where they can't fully control whose in the shot.

I still do not see how they can keep someone out who wants to come to your Lien Sale, even if they do not want to sign the release??? If you are like PA it was advertised as per the lien law. And anyone can come to bid on the advertised units. "No stipulation of signing a film release". I can't imagine I could keep a bidder from attending??? Just my 2 cents. I would be concered with a future lawsuit. You know how attorneys are. No offense if you are one
I still think the two shows will draw more bidders to all SS lien sales

Re: Storage Wars
They could still bid and stay outta the camera ... not ideal. Its still a cheese grater looking CYA.
