Default Storage Wars Collides with Tila Tequila

So apparently one of the buyers from Storage Wars last month bought a unit at auction that belonged to Tila Tequila, who has been in Maxim and Penthouse and once had her own dating show on MTV. ISS story here. The kicker is the buyer has not gone through the unit yet and is "negotiating with news outlets" to have crews on hand to watch the search live. This has Geraldo Rivera and Al Capone's vault written all over it.

My question is this: If this was your facility, would you be pressing the buyer to clear out the contents so you could move the unit, or would the spectacle and potential exposure from publicity and a made-for-TV dirty-laundry search of a D-list celebrity be worth the wait and hassle?

If the buyer turned around and rented the unit, like I have often found they will do if it's needed for more then 48 hours, they can do as the please.

As the buyer of the space isn't your customer, and as you can decide who has the right to enter the facility, why would you want to open that can of worms. Buy at auction, and have 24 hours to move the stuff off of the place. Generally, as an industry, we provide privacy to our customers. If they enter the facility while the filming is going on, they may very well loose the right to privacy, which means that you might loose some tenants.

Yeah... ahh, no! The buyer can cart it all off-site where they can properly stage it all, insert commercial breaks with the prerequisite "Whoa, what's this?" prior to the screen going black. Geraldo ain't welcome here either, even if Jimmy Hoffa's body is stored within Al Capone's secret vault on site. LOL! The hassle & the drama with no good PR for the facility = why bother. Just MHO, but I agree with astro here on the privacy issues and if Tila Tequila (really?) decides to sue regarding her privacy etc. then you (the facility) could get drawn into the whole mess. I don't see an upside to this; and thankfully we aren't that Hollywood-area facility.

Why in the world would you want the PR on your site! I'd definitely be resolving different ways to settle things up to stay out of the slimelight on something as high profile as this. I've had some very interesting celebrities go in arrears and we worked hard to collect and keep it out of auction.

Well if Tila Tequila would have just paid her storage bill, then she wouldn't have this privacy concern, now would she?

No idea who Tila Tequilla is and don't care to know. She should have paid her bill! Love the "slimelight" lingo. And agree have the buyer remove the items in the agreed amount of time. I don't allow garage sales, yard sales etc. Sure wouldn't allow a filming crew on site.

depending on the number of zeros involved, almost any owner would say "hell, yes." The owner gets a fat check for doing nothing. The show airs one day and is forgotten the next. I don't see the downside here.
