Default Petty theft, what would you do?

So we had a couple small items stolen from our customer restroom Saturday afternoon. A liquid soap dispenser and a wall clock total cost to us about $50. Two of the three items that weren't bolted down. I'm surprised they didn't take the nice towel dispenser too. I know with 99.9% certainty which tenant's "friends" took the items. I'm more than a little irritated since we put a lot of effort into providing a nice experience all around, including the "facilities" for our customer's benefit. How would you handle this?

Scum buckets everywhere. That is pretty low. I had a customer that messed all over the seat and floor. Terrible mess to clean up and she had the gall to ask to use it the next day. I said no way cause you crapped on toilet and floor and didn't clean it up. Said she was going to talk to the owners. I said I don't care and if I'm fired for that oh well.

It is private property, I would not let a known thief back on the property. If he steals from you, he will steal from your customers, if they do it once, the second time is about to happen, he has to go.

Confront them, when you have someone with you, and tell them they are no longer welcome on the property. If your tenant gets upset, you can rent to someone else who is less trouble, right?

The public restroom here is inside the office so . . . . office closed. . . . restroom closed. People aren't walking out of here with anything.

Best solution.......shotgun with birdshot. Should slow them right down. Remember, I am in the mountains.

We have invested in CCTV for our facility. It's a pricey ticket item but when you have things like this happen, you may initially spend 2k on the system but if you have a $50 item stolen here, and $50 there, you can now see who is doing what. Also, it's an easy upsell when customers see that we have that. It has paid for itself numerous times.

Next time you see them on site swap out the TP for the poison ivy kind ...

But seriously, there are some odd folk out there. We've seen a few Kleptomaniacs over the years and typically you have to just bring the issue to their attention and then keep a close eye on them.

We had a tenant gazzilionaire who drived a nice rolls royce and the such and they were busted with real estate signs garden hose and every other regular item. They just couldn't help themselves and it's not like they even put the thousands of feet of garden hose to use ...
