My husband and I have managed A-AAA Discount Self Storage in Longview, Texas for almost 2 years now. Our facility has 567 units including CC and parking. The owners bought the property in 2003 and have expanded every year since then. We have almost doubled in size since David and I took over management. We opened 59 new units in mid December 2006 and and we went from 98% to 80% full after the new units were online. By the 1st of June 2007 we increased to 95% full. That's an average of 10 units per month! Our second expansion took place in August 2007 and we increased by another 150 units. That was a lot of new units to fill! We are currently at 83% occupancy and at this rate should be back in the 90% soon. Plans are in the works for a new CC unit this spring (which is fast approaching). David and I are hoping for covered parking in our next expansion. We have found our best renters are our 10x30 units with doors in each end. They were the first to go and don't stay vacant long. Anyway we hope to get to know some of you better and look forward to sharing ideas.
