Hello everyone. I am the manager of Storage Solutions in Terre Haute, IN. We are opening a second location in late Spring and I will manage that location as well.

I am hoping to be able to get some neat ideas and possible sound advise through this user group. I am looking forward to it.

Hi. I'm Mary from Lawrence County, Ohio. We have a 350 unit 40,000 square foot facility. Been in business for 13 years. I also love it most days. Have lots of trouble with keeping employees though. Have received lots of good info from ISS and Self Storage Education Network (name correct??) but more of the info I received is geared towards very large companies instead of a company with only 3 employees. Any thoughts on employee manuals, etc??

Hi Mary. It's nice to meet you. We have an employee manual that is very basic. It goes over office etiquette, phone etiquette, dress code, lien process and mainly just what is expected in all daily tasks. We are a small company as well. And lately we have had a turn over in our weekend help. Finding another person to grasp everything that we have under one roof has been a challenge. (We also do Budget Truck Rental, Propane Tank Exchange, UPS Shipments, and Auto Trader publications).

We also have what we call a company info book. This has any info on the property that may be needed ... employee phone lists, directions to the property, banking & post office info, property map, company units/inventory, vendor info, emergency contact info, emergency shut off info ( for water, electric, telephone, alarm, etc.), gate system info, credit card & Merchant info and different unique property facts.
