Hello,

New to the site and look forward to all the great information offered here... I had a question if anyone could help me out i'm wondering I was planning on maybe attending the expo in Las Vegas... I'm new to and looking to getting started in the business of storage so my question is ...can anyone (public such as myself) attend this expo? And what about a day admission fee? Any help would be great thanks!

I don't have the exact numbers (cost) but I am sure someone will jump in soon to answer that question.

I do know that you will be welcomed with open arms at the expo - as someone looking to get into Self Storage the ISS Expo is the way to go. There are many education sessions geared toward someone like you.

Hello, and welcome to SST! You are very welcome to attend the expo. The show caters to existing self-storage professionals as well as entrepreneurs investigating the business for the first time. If you just want to come in for a day and enjoy the exhibit hall, you can purchase a pass for only $85 if you buy by Feb. 26. (Registrations are available on site, but I suggest taking advantage of the pre-registration discount.)

Being that you're exploring the industry as a "newbie," you might want to check out the Developers Seminar that takes place on Wednesday, March 3. This workshop is specifically designed to help people like you decide if self-storage is the right fit for your business goals. You can read more here:

If you want even more info, the standard Education Package includes access to 40 seminars and roughly 30 roundtable discussions, many of which relate to issues of self-storage real estate, development, construction and financing -- topics of interest to someone entering the biz.

I suggest that you get a copy of the ISS Fact Book. It is a great summary of articles about this crazy biz from A to Z. Just click on the ISS Magazine link above - click on Subscriptions - click I am new subscriber and you will see an order link for the Factbook 2010. I think it is $75 dollars but it will provide you with some great insights. You will also be able to pcik up a copy at the EXPO. Look forward to meeting you there.
