Wink Be Slick with an SST Quick Click...

... on your DESKTOP! I know that this will be overly simplistic for many of you, but for the hoards of less-computer-savvy people who lurk on this forum, it is really quite easy to create a shortcut to Self Storage Talk right on your desktop, thereby allowing you to access your favorite (and the world's largest) online self storage forum without having to manually open your browser and clicking a bookmark. Follow these simple steps:

    1. Highlight this link, then click it with your RIGHT mouse button: http://www.selfstoragetalk.com/

    2. Select COPY from the menu that appears.

    3. Minimize this SST window (don't close it, or you will lose these instructions).

    4. On your desktop (and not on an existing icon), right click your mouse and select NEW from the menu that appears. Select SHORTCUT.

    5. A dialogue box will appear, asking you "what item would you like to create a shortcut for?" (If running Windows 7, anyway- earlier OS versions may be similar).

    6. Right click the field in the middle of the box, and select PASTE. The address you copied above should appear. Select NEXT.

    7. A dialogue box will appear, asking "What would you like to name your shortcut?" You can name it anything, like "Frank" or "Maude", but I would suggest that you call it "SST" or "Self Storage Talk" to avoid confusion. Click FINISH.

    8. Now, look on your desktop. You should find a new icon with a really cool, high-tech looking Virgo Logo. Click on it and see where it takes you. If you don't end up on the SST homepage, you've screwed it up somehow. In that case, delete the icon and try it again or call John Carlisle on his cell phone after 10 p.m. for help...

**Actually, don't call John C. at home (or work) if you have problems. Just send me a private message and I'll try to help...

Just so you all know, if you call me after 10 p.m. it will cost you $4.95 a minute and because of the time, I'm not subject to FCC restrictions.

And a big thanks to John R. for posting these sweet directions.
