Default Charity Drives at Your Facility

We're getting ready to sponsor a food drive, for the local Weekend Hunger project, at our location next month. I was wondering if those of you could comment on charity drives that you have done, the successes and failures.

Thank you.

The Idaho Self Storage Association has selected the Idaho Food Bank as its charity of choice. We wanted to support a non-profit organization that all of our members agreed upon that wasn't political or religious in nature.

The food bank delivered food barrels to some of our member facilities during this past holiday season. I don't know how much the facilities collected but I will find out this week and let you know. The food bank needs food year round so we are planning a food drive/fund raiser during the summer.

We have set up a car wash to sponsor the local high school cheerleading booster club at our facility in June. We are also looking into getting the 'big red bus' here for a blood drive later on in the year. I have spoken with our local Sherriff's Dept and we are in discussion with them to do the "Safe Child" program here at our facility where children can get their pictures taken and fingerprints made so that parents can keep these on file. We have also signed on with Toys For Tots to be an official drop location during the holiday season later this year. Hopefully getting our name out in the community will increase our visibility and our occupancy levels while we are providing valuable services.
