Looking for opinions for a new name for a self storage.

Do you like BigRedBox.com?

We like it because it can be easy to market a big red box. It is easy to remember.

I like this kind of stuff, however, what is the city and state location?

My first thoughts of BigRedBox is too much sounding like a "red-light" district if you get my drift.

Or -- Big Red gum --

Will the city allow you to paint your location all RED - --

I know at our facility we try to stay away from the color red. It is associated with warnings and such. Kind of like "keep out" signs. But that is just our preference. In your location it may work to your benefit. Good Luck!!!

didn't work out so well for the "Big Red Boat", the cruise line that was crushed by Disney.

I see that somebody has parked the bigredbox.com domain, I hope that was you. Bigbluebox.com is already taken.

I love it...the branding and name recognition opportunities are limitless...could be the next 'industry' brand color.

Red, it's the new green

It's really catchy, but I would try to describe what you do. What sets your product apart from everyone else? We came up with Just Right Self Storage since we concentrate on convenience.

Here is an update on the BigRedBox.

The domain name was taken, since last October. Owner will not sell it. So I registered BigRedBoxx.com. However, having done that gives me concern for the Red Boxx (emphasis on the XX). Now maybe if I called it Elliot Spitzer's Big RedBoxx, er nevermind.

Fairborn mentioned the marketing ideas and that's what I love about the BigRed idea. It has marketing creativity.

Then there is the issue with the city and the red doors. It may be a problem.

Anyway, the bigbluebox came up in discussion as someone here mentioned. That works too. Then again the domain name is already gone as so many domain names are rapidly disappearing.

In any event I can still use the names even if the domains are gone. Just change it a bit, or dot net or mobi (my web guy said mobi is the next big thing in higher level domains).


I think I might take Matz suggestion and utilize our uniqueness. We are building a site right next to 2 major highways, 80,000 vehicles daily, and will have the 24/7 kiosk from Insomniac. Our plan is to have a 100% self service facility and a toll free number when someone needs assistance. The toll free number will be answered by a self storage rep who provides this service strictly for the industry. Then, if necessary the rep can call me.

BigRedBox.tv is available...I'm still loving the branding...think of the youtube mock commercials you could post to your site...say it outloud:

...works for me...There is no mistaking the domain spelling and comprehension when saying it in your elevator speech when you guest at Rotary or other event.

The jury is still out for me on the dot mobi...I'd do a dot info or dot biz before mobi...no offense to Moby, who I really like...is he moby.mobi?
