OK, Stoho, for what it's worth. Another store had "Free Tootsie Rolls" on their marque. It was unexpected, fun and separated them from the other guys who only had the same old thing..."We sell boxes". I don't have a marque, but if I did, I would have fun sayings, or something to cheer on the local schools, any feel good thing. Also, we probably would include anything that separates us from the competition, i.e., Alarms on every door, etc.

I wish I did ... I've tried a few "pithy quotes" but to tell you the truth ... most people want the TIME and TEMP .... so ... I display my most important info right after giving them what they want. On a scale of 1-10 I'd say it's working at about a 6-7 for me. I do know this from a previous life (business life) ... that if you don't change your message at least once a week, no one will read it. ![]() The marquee is one of the best forms of advertising. Your marquee should not say the same thing on both sides. The marquee should be changed at least once a month, unless you have found that it is generating sales. The local High School in our area would ask all businesses in the area to support their sports teams by changing our marquee the night of their games. Religious and Political slogans should not be used. Politically correct season greetings should also be used. Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. Anytime a new storage facility would open within 3 to 4 miles we would always change our marquee to NOW OPEN. Local events such as NASCAR or concerts is also a great way to use your marquee. We once put up "OPEN 8 DAYS A WEEK" many people stopped at the light would call using their cell phones to let us know there is only 7 days in a week! ![]() |

"The Final Frontier is Space and we have some."
"Give your garage back your car." "Need space? Fill ours without emptying your wallet" "We give out customers the time and space their need, 24/7" I used the Elvis one and got a lot of response from it. |
