Hey guys,

I'm trying to get some information together for my Storage customers, I know Autodoc had a pretty good response to his Direct Mailing, but i havent heard much else. If you've had a good or bad experience sending out direct mail, post it here!

information that would be really helpful to the storage companies i work with:
1) who you sent it to (customers, community, businesses)
2) what type of mailing it was (flyers in envelopes? postcard?)
3) what type of promotion it was (referral bonus? first month free? no promotion?)
4) how many you sent
5) in comparison to what you paid to send it, what your return was
6) in your opinion if it was better or worse than other tools you have used

My former company had us send out over 500 mailers to possible new customers. The only cards I received back were the ones with an incorrect or incomplete address. No one ever brought one in with an offer. It was sent to apartment complexes, Home Owner association houses, individual homes, etc.

One idea of a directly marketing campaign is to send something out to previous tenants (you should be able to pull them from you management software); reminding them of your service as well as any other new services you might offer. There's always the chance they will need storage again or a place to put their seasonal toys.
