    Default Howdy Ya'll!

Although I don't rent units, take payments,or any of that cool stuff,I work at storage sites all over Florida and sometimes beyond.I work for a company that installs and services gates, access systems, alarms, cameras, etc.

    Welcome

We had a post a long time ago about protecting gates, cameras, keypads and such from lightning. Where I am at in California, we are listed as less than 1 strike a year, so not to much for the need here. But other places really need the protection. As an installer company, how do they protect the equipment? Do they have to do different setups for different areas?

    Again welcome

Thanks! Which is better? Lady Lake,or the road to it? Loved both! I'll be using that description of integrity too!

Thanks for the welcome! I'll take the lightning and hurricanes, you can keep the earthquakes! The rainy season here in Florida is our bread and butter when it comes to service.Unfortunately,we're usually fixing sites originally wired by other contractors. Anything is succeptible, but the most common denominator is using the "shield/ground in the cable for data or power. Due to the cost nobody seems to want to replace the wire, especially since they're already replacing an expensive piece of equipment! However, lightning does strike twice in the same place, and we may be back in as little as a week to replace the same component! That's only the tip of the iceberg! Don't get me started!
