Hey there
How's everyone doing? I'm new to posting here, but I've been on here reading tips and whatnot for a few months. I hope to keep learning new strategies and hopefully meet some good people, lol.
Just a bit of background info, I've worked in storage for a little over a year and a half (moving company, think Orange, lol). I started at a storage facility in Greenville, SC in April '11 as a customer service rep. I had applied for a job at one of their moving centers, but a friend suggested me to the manager of the storage facility. I later suggested for her to hire my fiance as a housekeeper, then she moved up to CSR. I ended up working there for about 6 or 7 months, got transferred to the moving center where I was asked to help with storage in addition to hitches because of that experience. In May of this year my fiance and I were offered a management team position in Columbia, SC and we had to take it. With the on-site apartment in downtown just minutes from the USC campus (Go Gamecocks!), my only complaint is the noise from traffic. I love my job and foresee myself sticking with it until I retire or go insane from some of these customers.

Re: Hey there
Welcome Welcome Welcome Jcorn!!!! ALL of us are happy to get a new member of our storage family here, but are even EXTRA happy to get a new member from the great state of South Carolina!!!!
We started in storage 7 years ago with the same company you work for. They have some nice facilities in Columbia. Unfortunately, living next to traffic goes with the job for most people who live at a storage facility. Owners tend to like to build them on busy highways, and most don't think about the fact that your bedroom window is next to a 10-lane highway, or that your outdoor space, if you are lucky enough to have some, is filled with traffic fumes and exhaust. Those people who live at facilities where the residence is at not up front over or next to the office are lucky. We had the same problem in Mobile and Orlando...guess it goes with living in the big city...eventually you learn to sleep through the traffic noise.
