Hello!
Hello to all my fellow self-storage enthusiasts...
My name is Rich and I am relatively new to the self-storage field.
In October, I started working for an investor-owned facility here in central Florida. Currently we have 35 facilities.
I retired after 20 years with Costco, then relocated to Florida, and always wanted to try the Self Storage business.
After the stock market crash in 2007, and the subsequent lending freeze, my thoughts of owning a facility were out of the question.
So here I am, yearning to learn as much as possible about the industry. So far so good...
I am finding that my people-skills are paying off, as "selling" storage and co-managing a 600-unit facility is actually quite enjoyable.
This website is definitely as asset to those of us new to the industry and I thank everyone, in advance, for all the knowledge I am gaining. =)

Re: Hello!
Hey, StoRich, welcome to the zoo. Don't be afraid or too shy to jump on in with questions or answers. Both are very welcome here. SST is the place to gain, or pass on knowledge.
One of the good things about storage is that almost no days are alike. Always a new issue or challenge to work on. You can go outside and pick up trash, clean spaces, etc. if you need a break. Not many jobs that you can get paid to take a break and relieve whatever is concerning you.
Enjor. Lots of real good people here, excluding me, of course.
