A heartfelt THANK YOU to all the veterans and their families.

I echo Amy's sentiments and encourage the vets on the forum to post on this thread and be recognized.
Thank you!

I will post, not as a Vet, but on behalf of my husband and my father who are both Vets. Thank you go all Vets who have served and are currently serving.
Now here is a TRUE story I want to share!
On NPR this morning, they said two robbers mugged a guy, took his wallet and then went thru the wallet. They found his military ID. They promptly gave his wallet back, thanked him for his service and went on their way.
What do you think???

Thank you to not only all of our Veterans but also to our service members serving now as well. A huge Thank you also for the families of our Veterans and current service members as these members of the families also have sacrificed so much for our country.
Never forget that the way of life we enjoy in America is because of the sacrifices of others, and we should stand tall and remember this and NOT APOLOGIZE to the rest of the world for who we are.
We are a country that has given so much and have asked little in return, we understand and respect Freedom and have willingly given our lives so that many others can be free.
Thank you Vets, we love you.

We have many Veteran's in our SST midst; some of them are very modest. I exchanged emails with one gentleman months back, and he's a doll. Don't worry, I won't rat you out, you know who you are, and I still admire you!
To everyone who has sacrificed anything for our country, be it in a war zone, or being fortunate enough to serve in less life-threatening areas, you took the oath to uphold our country's values, to preserve and protect and we appreciate that strength of moral character. Not everyone has that type of fortitude and we applaud you.
Everyone please keep in mind, we should not just show our support on the few designated days of the year, but anytime you have the opportunity thank a Vet or a service member. It takes so little effort on our part, but means so much to those who serve.

gina's right; most veterans are not going to come here and thump their chests, but I will gladly pat them on the back. Sometimes we need a reminder that freedom is not free; that the liberty we enjoy came at a steep price and that the free air much of the world breathes owes its gratitude to American service personnel.
Mel's right that the last thing we owe the world is an apology for anything. Yes, America has made its mistakes along the way but it has given far more than any other country in standing up for freedom, battling oppression, aiding the downtrodden and suffering, and uplifting those who yearn for something better.
Go to Berlin and ask those on what was the East side if they would like to turn the clock back 30 years; ask the rest of the Soviet bloc if the past was better; and on this side of the globe, ask folks in Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua about freedom. Often seems strange that the ones who don't "get it" are people from here, people who fail to realize how good they have it because they know no other way, people who cannot comprehend that this country didn't just happen.

One last sharing thought. When my son returned from Iraq I had some long talks with him and I asked him if he thought that we have done any good over there. As straight of an answer as could be given he said, Dad, to the people that we gave an opportunity to have even just a taste of freedom is enough for me. Yes, we have made a difference and I do not care that many people do not support they war, I was there, I saw what we did for many people and if I am asked, I would go back again.
Remember that Freedom is not free but thanks to all our Veterans, many of us have never had to experience anything but freedom.
God Bless America.
