Football recruiting video
Hey guys.... I'm not sure how many of you will appreciate this, but since you ALL did such a fabulous job last year of voting online and earning our team $500 that was sorely needed, I thought I'd throw up my son's recruiting video that I just finished last night. I haven't been around these parts much in the last couple of months, I get pretty involved with the team come football season.
For those of you that aren't football fans, you can play a sort of "Where's Waldo" with this video too....the gray haired old guy on the sidelines that pops up periodically may or may not be someone you're familiar with.

Justin, wow. Grant is the class of the field, no pun intended. The quarterback ain't no slouch, either.

I have to concur with Astro! What a pair those two are and the way your son controls the ball when he catches it... amazing! Best wishes to Grant, I hope he catches all the breaks he needs to fulfill his dreams. I'm only 6 minutes into the video, but I'm impressed. Thank you for sharing!

Re: Football recruiting video
haha, thanks guys! That QB has come a LONG way since the season started, he's only a sophomore, and after his first Varsity hit at a scrimmage this summer I went over to him lying on the grass on his back to see if he was OK. He said to me "...uh....I'm not sure I can do this...."
The QB has a ways to go still, but if he works hard he could be an excellent player. In no way affiliated with Storman software.

Re: Football recruiting video
Not to ask you to tip your hand on the very public forum, but does your son have any college leanings?
And is he going to do that cool selection event where he puts the hats of the colleges he's considering on a table and then picks one out?
Oooh, better yet, he could do "The Decision" a la LeBron James. I'll fly out to California and interview him, ask him where he's taking his talents. You could produce the video.

Oh, I have to add, though, that as awesome as your son is, he looks terrible in maize and blue and especially in those helmets. (That's for you, astro.)
If he wants to try the Midwest and the Big Ten, I recommend a school in Columbus.

Gee, with that helmet, if he doesn't go to Michigan, there must be something rotten in Timbuktu. It is only natural. he will feel right at home in the wonderful Maize and Blue. After all, he could be in that attrocious red and silver. Yuck!!!!!

Re: Football recruiting video
Gina asked me today at the lien seminar what the status is with my son, I figured I should wrap up this thread now that he has committed. He accepted preferred walk-on offer from BYU, and will be heading up to Provo, Utah as soon as high school is out to join the team for summer practices. We flew up and met with the coaches, they are very excited to have him and project him as a flex tight end. His size and receiving skills have them intrigued, although he will need to put on 30 pounds or so to be effective. Since the first of the year he's been busting his tail in the weight room, and has already put on 10 pounds of quality weight.
For those that don't know, a preferred walk-on means that he is on the the team and gets everything a scholarshipped player gets, less the tuition paid for. BYU is known for moving players from walk-on status to scholarships, and is also known as a school that actually gives their walk-ons a chance to compete for starting jobs, and not just fodder to beat the stuffing out of on the scout teams. There are at least a dozen former walk-ons at BYU that hold school and national records at their respective positions.
Dartmouth also made him an offer, but the Ivy League does not offer scholarships to any players. They contend that the scholarship is the fact that you were admitted, now shut up, pay your bill and play ball... Grant didn't want to be in New Hampshire so far from family, and go to each game on a bus. I didn't want the $40k annual tuition bill.
Additionally, the Ivy League does not participate in any post season bowls. It was flattering that Dartmouth wanted him, Stanford also showed interest, but in the end he has always wanted to be a BYU Cougar.
It's a very cool thing when you see a child's dream come true.
Now the hard part starts...getting to see the field on a Saturday will be the tallest mountain he's ever climbed. In no way affiliated with Storman software.

I say the simplest way to keep a list of that...
Do you keep a 'don't rent' list?
