Would You Use an SST iPhone app?
Suppose there were an iPhone app for Self-Storage Talk that allows you to check and read the forum easily on your iPhone without launching your browser. The functionality would be slightly pared back to keep it simple. It would be something similar to the Facebook and Twitter iPhone apps.
Would this be useful to you? Or do you use the forum mostly on a desktop or laptop?

Re: Would You Use an SST iPhone app?
Good topic John.
Given the wonderful sense of community this board has, I can see where many would enjoy having an app for their smartphone (iPhone, Driod, etc.) to participate in threads and be connected with friends.
I founded a sports-related forum back in 2002 and was the primary owner for a couple of years before I turned it over to someone else to manage. It now has about 600 members and is the primary forum in the "niche" we created for this forum. So, I understand about the dynamics of how a well-structured forum for many can be a pleasant place to congregate, especially if it is well-monitored and administrated - much like what I have seen ISS to be. I think the person who will want an app for their phone will view this forum as "their tavern" and want in their "off hours" to stay connected with friends they've made here.Last edited by mcoloma; 4th October 2010 at 12:11 PM.

This is my therapy sessions - if I had an I-phone (or I-pad or anything else Apple) I would probably use it.

Re: Would You Use an SST iPhone app?
But mcoloma, I'm not a barfly.
I'd use an iPhone app, but then I love geeky stuff. I do use the Twitter & FB iPhone apps periodically; like when sitting in doctor's aptly named waiting room & the like. I also used the apps when we were at ISS or any other time I'm on the road. While it's not an iPhone app, I do love the ability to pull up our property map on our website when I'm showing units.
Me, I like lurking about off hours away from my desktop to check on Autodoc & Astro and what they might be up to off hours when they think no one is looking.
P.S. I guess we know who the ONE person is who voted yes! It's me based on my response! We now return you to your normally anonymous voting... :-)Last edited by Gina6k; 4th October 2010 at 12:33 PM.

Re: Would You Use an SST iPhone app?
I vote yes as well! I love iPhone apps and having to zoom around the SST site on my phone takes way too long! It's one of the reasons I read the new posts during the ISS show in New Orleans but didn't post anything. Too much work! A native iPhone app would be great, but at least a "mobile friendly" version of the website would be good too.
