At 9 we make sure all tenants are out and do a complete walk-thru. We also lock our walk-thru gate. And 1st thing the next morning we perform another lock check. We also put "thank you for storing with us" stickers on all of our locks so that when we are checking locks it is easy to tell if a lock has been switched. (These can be purchased at Chateau). We have spot lights in our office that shine on our merchandise, we leave these on overnight as well. Hope this helps!!!

Call your local police department or sheriff's office and offer them the use of your facility for dog training once or twice a year. Post notices for your tenants to read that you are doing this and make it a policy to do this at least once a year. Bet your problem tenant will be vacating so you can rent to someone more responsible.

Default Drugs & Storage

Marijuana is not always the drug of choice and is often used to mask the real drug their using. Drug feigns mix allot of different drugs together and can smoke crak, crank, heroin, coke, meth in a pipe at the same time their smoking marijuana which can cause a violent temper. In Las Vegas 1 out of 2 babies are born in Clark County have a meth addiction. Were not cops, Narcs or DEA Agents. Bad things happen in bad neighborhoods. The police in most of the facilities we have worked average a 3 to 4 hour response time. If we know someone is using drugs at our facility they loose their gate code privilege and have to log in and out at the office until we find a way to get rid of them. Salt Lake City used to be the capital for meth labs in storage units, Oregon now holds that title.
We quit one facility because the manager drinks beer all day long and has a bad temper with everyone. We had a district manager that was a meth head and had no teeth. One day she was throwing rocks at our upstairs apt on our day off. She was so stoned she could not find her keys which were right in her hand.
In Vegas tenants returning boats to the RV storage spaces 9 times out 10 will be drinking beer and being rowdy.
After numerous threats and professional help I was advised to leave the police work to the police. I sometimes go off property to the local 7-11 and report crimes via pay phone if I'm not happy with a tennants criminal behaviour. My life is much happier and safer now.

WOW -- I am glad I am working here! I would end up getting shot at one of those facilities as I would do my "walking tall" impression (semi cult film form the 70's)

I would not tolerate that kind of behavior here - I catch them doing ANYTHING legal and out they go -THAT DAY!!!

Glad to here that you are in a better place now.

Default FBI Task Force

The FBI Mini Storage Task Force to fight terrorism advised me during a year long investigation that it is not my job to confront criminals or enforce the law. Every mini storage in the world should get the local police involved with what's going on at your site. If the police refuse or don't have time that's their problem not mine. By taking the law into your own hands you leave yourself and the owner open to numerous law suits. The police not the FBI advised me to carry mace and that it would be OK to have a gun in the Apt. Drug sales is used to finance more violent crimes. Get the police involved.

thank you for the advice - I have both the sheriff and fire department involved as I have several members of each renting here. They ask me all the time if there is anything going on that they need to be aware of.

The one time I did need assistance with an unruly drunk tenant they were her within 2 min.
