no zoning issues and we checked with the local police and they thought it was a great idea! Just have not seen it done in the area. we're in an industrial area, so no "foot trafic" to worry about. does anyone out there use this as a deterent and does it work?

Big fence, big alarm, big dog and a bigger bat... in that order seems to work for us. In all seriousness, we considered the rent-a-cops, but most of the guys employed by those organizations here seem to have criminal records - so it's up to us.

I wanted to run 220V through the fence at night but my wife and the lawyer said no --
I told them that I had a pitchfork and would clean the fence daily, but still the answer was no ![]()

Hi,
I have developed a easy cheap way of deturing access through fences and metal walls. The basic is a box of 4 strand Telephone wire, glue, ziplocks and a mux. For your fence problem you would start at one end of the fence with all 4 wires connected together. First ziplock wire to the fence every 10 feet then every 3 feet. Spot glue at ziplocks to secure the wire to the fence and prevent detachment and droping of the wire. Then attach the other end to a mux and lable it perimiter fence wire. You have a closed very stable loop that will last for years with no false alarms. On my buildings I do the same thing. I use screws every 3 feet to pin the wire, then glue the wire and screw and every rib with construction adhesive. If I don't have a mux handy I just tie in to the last door alarm and lable it 1510/pir,b#15 for alarm response. On the inside of my rooms I have striped 12 pair wire and glued a single pair which is added to the door alarm loop. This is a extreamly visual and stable deturrent. sorry no spell checker yet. hb |

We have a family owned incubator warehouse property that has some dark corners and seems to attract people dumping their trash. I have made numerous runs to the dump with the crap that people dump in the dark corners to save the dump fees. We increased the lighting and that only helped them make sure they got all of the crap out of their truck. The site fronts to a very busy freeway so at night you wouldn't even hear an alarm and there's nobody anywhere around to respond anyway.
My electrician mentioned that a pretty good deterrent is a motion sensing strobe light. Everybody looks when they notice a strobe light flashing, so we're going to try that. Hopefully the cops even come and check it out.... |
