Question Facility Software

I am looking at purchasing PTI facility software. Is anyone else using PTI software?

We use Syrasoft and it integrates great into the PTI Falcon Access control.

Default Considerations in Selecting the Right Product

There are about twenty (20) management software applications on the market and they all provide the basic features and functionality, Move-In/Take Payment/Move-Out, to operate a storage facility. However, they do differ on some of the finer features and functions which may be critical to your particular operational processes. A good starting point is to outline your operational process and the particular features the software should provide. Then shop around and test as many products that you can before making the commitment. There is a chance that if you don't select the best one for your needs you may have to adjust or limit your operational process to conform to the software.

You can view a list, with links, of the applications on my site: StorageLand

I will be hosting a round table at the ISS Expo in Las Vegas to discuss this particular topic. Stop by and we can talk...

Our facility uses PTI Taskmaster and I absolutely love it. Ive tried the demos of 5 other major companies, PTI was the one that won me over. The support is great in my opinion, your question may not be answered right away when you call, but that seems to be with any software techs support.

Nice user interface with great reports. Glad WE chose PTI

Smile Has anyone heard of DKS Symbio?

We are new to the field of self-storage. This facility was opened in February of 2008. The owner purchased software that was supposed to let us bill and/ or discount at any increment of time. It has taken me 4 months to get a "Bill to" date made available for use in the system. The support people are very nice and spend hours on the phone and on-line trying to sort out the bugs... Some issues have not been resolved and we are left with trying to figure it out.
There must be some program out there that is better and provides training for their software... We are looking for software that is very user friendly and logical...Does such an animal exist? I have read a number of postings and I get mixed directions.... Thanks in advance..

One of the common themes in these forums about management software is that you should try before you buy. By no means are all software offerings equal. However, there are several viable candidates that offer similar features and stability that your current application might not (if I read your post correctly). Many times, the final selection comes down to personal preference and style - believe it or not, most folks go with their gut than with a snazzy sales pitch.

To develop that instinct, you'll need to try a few demos and spend some time with each. Think of it like buying a car - would you buy the first one you test-drive even if your friends recommend it? And it doesn't matter as much what the showroom looks like or how many features the salesperson highlights. If you don't feel comfortable after kicking the tires and driving a few miles, you probably won't make a purchase.

Checking the ISS page will give you a list of various vendors. Be aware that they cover a wide range of prices and product offerings. Whether you're ready to spend $600, $3000 or something in between, once you narrow the field by price make sure to learn about what's available for your budget.
