Default What do you do for fun?

C'mon ... we all know you can't think about and do self-storage 24/7. So what do you do for fun...how do you kickback, de-stress, pass the hours away from work?

When the weather is good I spend time in my 20'x20' space the owners give me for my wood shop - or we take a day and drive down to Disneyland.

If the weather is bad I hang out in my work room making signs and banners or watching my big screen TV (120" ) with over 700 movies on hand there is always something to watch!

I also spend a LOT of time here trying to help and learn! Of course that is usually during work when it's slow!

We're out here in the Central Valley, California. The weather is pretty great all the time. When I need to kick-back or de-stress, I run. It sounds crazy, but its peaceful, quiet, and pretty much no one wants to join me!! I've done this for the past 30+ years...all the time I was rasing my 4 kids. I called it "mommy time" and now its just "my time"!! I can leave for a run in a real foul mood and come back and hour later happy and ready to face just about anything!!

Wink Nothing Beats The Beach!

With due regard and sensitivity for those of you in the colder climes, I have to tout the refreshment and utter exhiliration of a brisk morning stroll on the beach. Nothing sets the tone for a busy day like the smell of the sea-breeze and the artistry of a rising sun on one of the many shoreside walking paths here in Corpus Christi! Barbara and I frequently start or end our day this way, and often on our days off we can be found in close proximity to any local surf or sand.

Of course, Sundays generally begin at Cracker Barrel and a visit to our favorite waitress Jessica, who knows that the order will likely be an omelet and Uncle Hershel's with country ham and eggs over-medium...

By the way... did anyone get in on the free Denny's breakfast this past Tuesday? They announced it during the Super Bowl, and we actually were up at 5:30 am... We arrived just after 6:00 and the line was WAY out the door! "Forget this," we said, and ended up at IHOP instead (no freebie, but fun anyway)...

Default I agree with John...

but our beaches are at least a 45 minute drive away. LOVE the beach, grew up in Florida!

For fun, I do creative things, I've always been a 'crafty' sort of person. I garden in my little patio container garden. Or I read, which can be trouble. I'm a voracious reader and I can't seem to put a book down once I open the cover. Thank goodness I am a fast reader!

When time allows, I like to head out to the mountains, Yosemite is my favorite place of all, or a quick trip to Carson City, NV, or obviously the beaches.

Santa Cruz and Monterey/Carmel are all within an hours' drive and there is always so much to see as you wander about. People watching is absolutely the best in any beach town. Be it the hippies in Santa Cruz, or the self-important ones in the shops in Carmel, there is always an interesting character somewhere. Kind of like the ones that come into our collective offices.

Storman, we took a cruise to Cozumel for Christmas last month...one of the best vacations we ever had...we are going back this year for an entire week!

We also have a Harley, which my husband loves and I suffer through riding it! I love to read, we both watch sci-fi movies, and I'm in the process of scanning old family photos onto my computer.

Lisa- we first found Cozumel off of a cruise ship too, took an introductory diving course while in port and since then the whole family has been certified and back to Cozumel a number of times. We can get there and back from San Francisco, rent a luxury 4br/4ba condo ON the beach near town, dive twice a day with a night dive for 5 days in one of the top 5 dive sites in the world, eat the BEST Mexican food in the whole country all for less than $1500 per person. We keep trying to go somewhere else, but can't bring ourselves to risk anything less than the perfect times we have in Cozumel.

If you don't dive, look into getting certified, the diving there is amazing. Since there is a pretty good current, you just dial in your buoyancy and watch the scenery pass in front of your mask. Very little kicking required. Warm water, BEAUTIFUL reefs, large animal life and the best dive ops in the world. PLUS, the peso is almost 15:$1 now My wife was so-so on getting certified, and since she did it we've been there many times and to Fiji to dive too, she loves it. Great family activity.
