Default Hard to find!

I find myself in need of a part time employee to cover one store one day a week. It is so hard to find someone that only wants to work one day a week.

Anyone have any ideas of good places to look for someone like this?

Thanks.

Do you have any colleges, community colleges, or tech schools nearby? We are off on Sundays and Mondays, and we have a WONDERFUL part time girl that works for us those 2 days each week, who is a student at a college near here. We have always had good luck hiring a college student, and they usually want very part-time work.

I have been in the same boat as you. I had a lady who worked for me 2 years and only worked one day a week. When she quit I went through about 5 ppl before I found a good person. I posted an ad in our miltary paper thinking I might get a wife or hubby of sumone in miltary who just wants: sum extra money I didnt get many hits off that. Posted a note in my office and got more leads off of that. Good Luck

I have used a 1 day per wk employee for over 20 years at our facility, I have tryed ads and postings of all kinds and have found that the one that works best for me is a part time help wanted sign in our front window....we do have some street exposier but we also get some good referals from our tenants ....hope this helps you

Try Senior centers. Many Seniors don't want full time work.

Senior citizens are a great resource and many of them are looking for part-time employment. Consider contacting your local Job Service center and they may have a senior citizen placement specialist that can help you. Also, contact your local AARP office to see if they can offer assistance.

You could even try mom's groups (of basically stay at home moms). Some would welcome the opportunity to work part time/one day a week, to get out of the house and make a little income. Just a thought.

Let us know what finally works out for you.

Also I would try to look for someone returning to the workforce. I got my job here at the Mini Storage because I could not work full time taken care of aging parent. I was one of the first 3 people they hired that stayed. There is three of us that Job share. I have a girl that is down to 1 1/2 Days she just got a job working for a denist M-Thurs so she takes Friday and Saturday. We are closed sunday. The owners did this so there is some one to consistently covering the office.

Default Seniors work for us

Our ownership group of five, all have full-time careers so while we cover the bookkeeping and management responsibilites most day-to-day operations fall to our staff, which are all retired.

We have three retired gentlemen that work for us and it has really worked out well. They all live very close to our site and their wives love to see them out of the house for 4 or 5 hours a day a couple days of the week. We try and pay a little better than Walmart / Sam's greeters and we believe the job offers them a little more stimulation.

The one area where certain senior citizens don't do well is computers, one of our employees is a retired tradesman and he never worked with a computer before he started with us, so that has been his struggle, but our other staff review his computer work.
