If I were to put a sign on the counter for John it would be a list of the current news headlines with "Please choose the reason you can not pay me today"

Maybe we need to have phone menus for delinquent tenants when they are calling in with the lame excuses why they can't pay:
"Press 1 for Grandma died again"
"Press 2 for I mailed you a check on Tuesday"
"Press 3 for my poodle has diarrhea"
"Press 4 for I lost my bank card, so this means I can't write you a check or pay cash"
"Press 5 for it was raining/snowing/hurricane/tornado (pick one) the other day when I was going to drop off my rent payment"
"Press 6 for I spent my rent money at the casino"
Etc, etc, etc.
It would save me a lot of time, that's for sure.

As a self storage manager...
I am annoyed when anyone comes into my office reeking of pot smoke, tobacco smoke, alcohol, and/or heavy perfume. The scent lingers long after the person has left.
And I am really annoyed when a tenant lets a vehicle go to lien. It now takes the DMV a minimum of 4 months to to process all the paperwork. Therefore I am stuck with an unwanted vehicle for at least 6 months! Actually, I am more annoyed with Ahnold for that
I am also annoyed when tenants leave trash in the unit or around on the property.
Oh, and a couple years ago I was really, really annoyed when a neighboring bull bullied his way through a gate and busted up our door, a window, landscaping, and the waterline...

Iwould have sent an answer to this question, but, my mother died, the dog has fleas, etc. and I have been laughing so hard about all of your answers, that I may have hurt myself.

Oh I thought of another one. We have a dumpster tenant are allowed to use. I ask everyone not to overfill the dumpster. I be darned if I don't come in someone has filled the dumpster to max then its 3 days before we are dumped again so I have to call and get a an extra dump. One weekend I was on the property seen a client doing it I be darned if he was not going try to shove more in there or worse yet put it next to the dumpster. Sure enough after I left he must have added more.

This is exactly why we purposely have no dumpster for tenant use. We have an outdoor trash can about the size of a typical kitchen trash can, and that is bad enough. If they can't haul it themselves and leave it for me, I keep the deposit.

had a young lady who pulled into the parking lot this morning - bright and early - it was around 8:30 or so - pulled right up into the handicap parking space - right near the front door - flew open the door of her car - leaned out of the car - and promptly thru-up (how do you spell threw up?) - calmly wiped her mouth with the back of her hand - closed her car door - pulled out of the lot and drove off into the hot humid houston morning - i was stunned.. disgusted and stood looking out the office window in shock ... luckily (can there be luck in this event?) .. there is a water hose at the front for watering plants - i unrolled it and washed the smell of beer and burritos into the gutter ...
the day seemed to go down hill from there ...
3 day weekend started at exactly 6:00pm - i have never locked a door so fast in my life ... color me done ...

Got ya beat on that one Troy - This was a first for me -
Guy pulled up to the office door tonight after closing - saw that we were closed walked around his vehicle so that he was in full view of the camera (not that he knew) and wizzed in our parking lot!
I sure hope he comes back tomorrow so I can play the video back for him!
I guess I would have to add this to my list of annoying things customers do!
