Thread: Good Finds ... and Strange Finds

While scouring your facility, I'm sure you've found some interesting things lying around -- either in vacated units or on other parts of the grounds. Some of them might be interesting (i.e. rare coins, arrowheads) and some just, well, bizarre.

What are some good stories of stuff you have found lying around?

The most bizzare was nude pictures of people I see at the local grocery store on a regular basis. Ewww. and the best, in a unit that had been abandoned 3 original animation cels from Disney's Sleeping Beauty in their custom mats in the envelope they had been mailed in from Disneyland with the receipt where they had been bought for $15 a piece at the gallery store in Disneyland in 1962.

I agree that we find a LOT of nekked stuff...grody.

My hubby found a $100 bill once!

Never found nudes, but did have a tenant flash my office camera... A dead skunk would qualify as the strangest, nothing really neat left for me yet.

Ok, maybe I'm somewhat of a science geek/nerd....but I like finding unusual things on my lot that were once living or are still alive: My top 3 favorite things:

1. Mud turtles in my retention pond in the spring & summer (they make good listeners)
2. Birds .... all kinds come to my bird feeders
3. I just found a dead luna moth this week & it was beautiful -my teenage son volunteers at an elementary school and he took it in (in a Starbucks cup) and all the 2nd graders gathered around him all curious to see it.

Sometimes you have to look beyond the obvious!

Lets see here.... I've found plenty of pics, magazines and videos containing nudity so that covers bizarre factor. In regards to the cool and interesting I've got a vespa, a Harley themed mini-bike, and back when I first started in 08 one of the units had an authentic WWII German biker helmet in it. I know at our sister site they've found gold bars inside a unit before Most recently thought I've come up on a Chevy 350 engine from a release of owners interest.

Time to freak you all out. Soon after starting here the chimney was serviced for the first time in a long time, and the chimney guys found a piece of a........HUMAN LEG BONE!!!!!

I know, crazy right. Called the cops and gave it to them and have never heard another word about it. The original part of this building was built for the railroad 90 years ago and we have owned it since '81 so that bone could have been there for a very long time.

Beat that.

found a diamond yesterday --- it was all bright and shiny and the back was painted gold

I did find a real diamond last year --- about a 1/4 carat. Been looking for the match ever since
