    Default Ice! Snow! More ice!

It's not as if we never get this kind of weather in my neck of the woods, but we just don't get it very often.

I am smack dab in the middle of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, and what we usually get for winter weather is ice. Well, we have that today! We also had snow, which we sometimes get, but soon enough it will all become ice.

Lotsa things closed today because of it. 1) We're not terribly prepared for this stuff and 2) we don't really know how to drive on it very well!

I am at work. I managed about 20mph on the way here, not much traffic. Didn't slide much either...just a little fishtail at a stoplight or two was about it.

Then I arrived at work. Stepped outta the pickup truck and promptly lost my footing on the ice. I'm pretty sure I've only bruised a muscle or two and didn't break a rib bone, which was my worry. If it broke, I'd expect it to hurting a LOT more than it is. I even packed a bag before leaving the house - a change of clothes, soap, razor, something to drink, etc. I even brought along a quilt. Forgot to bring any food. D'oh!

We're going to close early (mid-afternoon) and I hoping I'll be able to get back home. I hear a LOT of spinning tires on the major street in front of my office.

Anybody else having this much fun? Normally our phone would be ringing off the hook and people would be in here pretty much all day long. A LOT of my tenants took care o' bidness yesterday, I started the day with 40% of my tenants already having paid, and that's before running the auto charge stuff.

Speaking of, my January turned dismal. I was up 6 on move-ins/move-outs at one point, ended Jan -2! Grrrr. Also turned in a miserable 8% delinquency. Bleh.

Anybody else having this much fun?!?

No food!! Sorry that was the most important thing that stood out to me in your post LOL!! Is there anything within walking distance? Now I will worry you are hungry.

The good thing about snow and ice in the south is that when everything shuts down, everything shuts down and our business is not the only one affected.

Sorry about your month. At my former site and the site I just took over, our January's were actually extremely good and I was surprised. Compared to last year it was a huge turn around. Just know today starts a New Month!

And finally, at least you have SST to keep you company on such a dreary day!!

Heh! Yes, there's a 7-11 and a Pho restaurant a few doors away!

Yep, people get cabin fever pretty quick with this stuff. The wind is hitting 40mph and that's putting the wind chill into negative territory, and there's not much traffic. Surprisingly the thing I've seen the most are tow trucks...

Well up until Monday I was expecting a pretty good January! I signed 3 new tenants on Saturday! But...ach zehr...

We are closing early, but I still have a bank deposit to make. That might get interesting...

And I did bring along another little friend of mine I didn't wanna mention, in case I get stranded and have to deal with predator...!

Got ya!! I feel better knowing you have food nearby!! And another little friend to keep you company! Good thinking!

That is great that you got three rentals at the end! January is usually a slow month anyway, plus it is dreary and depressing (after holiday blues) so I really try not to let it get me down too much! At least I have Valentine's Day and CHOCOLATE to look forward to now....

Be careful going to the bank if you must!

Just took a peek at the street, there's a tanker truck of some sort stuck just short of the intersection with a police car behind him with lights on. Not sure how he's gonna get outta there...

Great timing with the Super Bowl in town, right?

I'm sure the Jerry Jones Monument to Hubris will be clear for Sunday's game, but it might be chillier than fans would like. Then again, it should be cold: It's Pittsburgh Vs. Green Bay.

We're expecting 18 - 24 inches here in Chicago. I can see Lake Michigan from my window, and we're supposed to get it the worst on the lakefront. Supposed to be the biggest snow since 1999.

Should be fun to paralyze a city of 3 million and a metro area of 9.7 million! Sure, we're used to the snow and have an awesome street department, but two feet is too much for anyone.

Yeah! Stinkin' yankees...brought this stuff with'em!! hehehe!

Well, this bad stuff should clear up on Friday. No idea what the temps will be for the Stupid Bowl. And heard today that Roger Staubach will be presenting the Lombardy trophy to the Packers, er...well, whoever wins...but that seems kinda wrong. Given the Cowboy's history, and having Captain America there to give away the trophy to either Green Bay or Pittsburgh just seems kinda wrong. They should have Bart Starr and Terry Bradshow on hand rather than making a historic Cowboy player give a trophy to either of those two teams!!
