Default Windows 7 - Syrasoft is compliant

It's far easier to get compliance with your management software than with hardware devices such as keypads, etc. Very often the software simply needs to be "recompiled" in the new environment, or with the newer tools. Hardware is usually programmed at a very low level and it's much more work for those companies to get compliant.

While Syrasoft Management Software is compatible with Windows 7, give the other guys a bit of time to do their research and catch up. You will find this in all industries, just look at some of the credit card processing devices supplied by banks. Many of them are not for use with even Vista yet.

I agree with Tom. Even though all of our software and hardware has been Windows 7 and Vista 32 & 64 bit compliant since last year, getting the hardware compliant is a more time consuming process than software."

Not to dig up an old thread but there is another option for sites moving from XP or Vista to Windows 7 32 or 64-bit. If you have legacy software that you would like to use, that works fine under Windows XP Professional then you can take advantage of the new "Windows XP Mode" in Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate editions. This mode puts a Windows XP virtualization layer (not just a compatibility layer) onto Windows 7 that allows you to run your applications just like they are on Windows XP. They can still access your serial ports and USB ports to connect to external devices and still run like they are on your Windows 7 desktop.

It's not full compatibility but it will allow apps that don't work on Windows 7 (especially 64-bit) to run without problems while you are waiting for updates from software vendors. Best of all it's FREE if you have 7 Pro or Ultimate.

More information on XP Mode can be found at microsoft.com/xpmode

On another note I can share that Chamberlain Access Solutions is working diligently to provide answers on Windows 7 compatibility or workarounds for our software. StorLogix version 3 will be fully Windows 7 and "Standard User" compatible as will the next release of TaskMaster. All other applications are currently under review and testing.

Didn't read through the whole thread, but I have had Sitelink Standalone and Web edition running on Windows 7 32 bit since last year. Have also had Digigate running for just as long with no problems. There is absolutely no excuse for these other companies not to be compatible with Windows 7, especially when you can't even buy Windows XP any more.

I know this an old thread, but we are fighting to get Global Mfg's Axcys working with Sitelink, and looking into possibly Digi or PTI. The Global guys can't seem to figure anything out. We have a very fast i7 Quad Core PC running Sitelink Standalone in XP Pro. We were givin a downgrade option at time of purchase. Have any of you tried running the gate program in XP compatability mode? Just a thought. I think our computer might be too fast for the Axcys program. Those guys' software is like something out of the stone age. Counterintuitive, complex, and just plain non functional at this point. They told us we couldn't even use Vista, even though they have worked out most of the kinks. Oh well, I hope it will work magically, but If not, you guys like Digi or PTI pads better?

I've run Sitelink Standalone on XP, Vista, and Windows 7. I've run Sitelink Webedition on Windows 7. All of this has been using Digigate as well. Just need to stick with 32 bit as Digigate is not compatible with 64 bit.

I've had no problems.

Chamberlain's PTI StorLogix/XT system v3.0 is fully compatible with Windows 7 32 and 64 bit editions without using compatibility modes or the virtual XP mode. This system takes advantage of modern technologies and software reliability practices. Chamberlain's Digitech system is also a hood choice for 32 bit systems running newer operating systems. Both are easy to use and can scale to any size facility.
