Default Cameras: How Many Do You Have?

We all know security cameras are a must-have for every facility. How many does your site have? Where are they located? How are they monitored? Have you ever caught anyone on camera committing a crime?

12, YES, YES, and YES

We have 12 cameras watching the drives and gate - we catch people all the time trying to run the gate or do other things that are almost as stupid, but not breakins! Never had one in over 4 years!!!!

As for monitoring them -- we have a 32" flat panel in the office and a 19" monitor that can be viewed in the living room.

We have 18 cameras and yes we have caught some "bad guys"! Our best one was, we knew a tenant that rented a 10x15 unit was coming in and stealing gas out of the RV's and other automobiles parked out back. So, our owner rigged the key pad to alert his cell phone whenever this client came in the gate. We can pull our cameras up on the internet and watch them 24/7, so Rich pulled up the cameras and watched them one night as they started to siphon gas out of a truck, Rich called the police, and they came over (no lights or sirens) and caught them in the act!! When the police opened their unit, it was full of gas cans (duh!!) and television sets!! When I got there all I got to watch was 3 sorry looking characters sitting in the back of a squad car and a tow truck hooking up their vehicle! We made the KCRA Channel 3 news!!

We have 16 cameras at the ends of each driveway and on the gate. Recorded on a DVR. Never caught anyone stealing anything but did see a person run into a building and drive off. When the person was questioned about it they said "no I didn't do that" until they saw the video.... They paid for the building..
Also caught a late night "makeout session" on the camera in the back row... Never did tell the female about it but did tell the male that we have cameras everywhere to which he got a little red in the face and left quickly...

The only reason I checked the camera and found it was I found her slip laying in the middle of the driveway on my morning walk-thru. I figured something was up so I checked it out.... surprise!!!

We have 4 at one site on the gates coming and going and one on the gate at another.

When I found a ladies keys and cut lock one day we used it to determine no one had been abducted and that a guy had come in and cut the lock.

With the other one we discovered that people were climbing thru an automatic gate, not easy, instead of walking around scared me to death and we put up chicken wire to stop that.

Currently we have 10 on the property, but if it were up to me I'd add a few more. Some of them are at awkward angles but to move them I have to let Corp know, and ever since I let them know I'm headed to the USMC my input means bupkis Anyways I have caught sleepers and deviants on cameras. Some of which are currently serving 4yrs in state Everything is recorded on a DVR and can be reviewed in the office.

I normally have 10 cameras, but whenever we have a lightning storm I lose 5 cameras. I have double surge protection, grounding, isolated cameras from any metal part of building. I'm getting tired of replacing $200 cameras. Does anyone have an answer for my problem.

where are you located because this shouldn't be happening. Somethign is NOT being done correctly on the installation end. We have too many facilities in Fla, the Southeast in general, and the Midwest that see plenty of lightning yet experience few problems. I doubt it's the equipment; has to be how the system is put into place.
