New to Storage have a Security Question......
First, thanks to everyone who responded to my Software question, with your help we are moving forward on that now.
Our facility in Texas was initially poorly designed and only a few poor quality camera's are watching the place now. We do not have on site managers and have had break-in problems after dark. The initial response of the site manager was to hire security, in the form of an individual who sits at the gate and takes names as they go in and out until 10pm closing time. This seems to have stopped the break-ins, which leads us to believe it is not someone going over the fence after hours, but likely current tenants or someone getting past gate security.
The problem is that the security cost is prohibitive to a relatively small facility. We are thinking we need additional camera's that can record all cars going in/out, like the security person does now, and probably some "we are watching you" signs.
So my questions are two fold:
First, what do you think of the general plan in terms of cameras and signs? Any other cost effective idea's?
Second, what recommendations for camera systems. I honestly have not even started to look. I'm going to point our guy in Texas in the right directions but new you all could give some good feedback.
Thanks.

Re: New to Storage have a Security Question......
I am in Texas, and am installing the "ezwatch" camera system at the facility I manage. 13 cameras, with digital recorder, lifetime tech support, and a 39" monitor all very reasonably priced. If you want the exact details pm me, and I will forward them. Or leave your number and I will call.

Re: New to Storage have a Security Question......
Do you need to hire it out or is it something you guys plan to do? I have used a few different web sites to purchase my surveillance equipment.

I use a Geovison DVR card in a computer as my DVR and it works great. Much more affordable to using a stand alone DVR, more storage, easy remote access.

Re: New to Storage have a Security Question......
So can you send the feed to a security company to observe for a reasonable fee if you have it set up? If so does anyone have relative cost.
I looked at the websites and see 8 camera systems around $1600 and 8 camera around $2500. Costs to install???

Re: New to Storage have a Security Question......
I am installing it myself. Will have the first 6 cameras up and running by the end of the week. The system also allows for remote viewing, even on a smart phone. With 13 cameras, I will have 7-8 days of recording on the supplied HD. I can add other HD's if it is necessary. We got all the supplies from eswatch, except the monitor and the conduit to run the cables.

Re: New to Storage have a Security Question......
This is the camera I use. http://www.securitycamerasdirect.com...ullet-camera-2
This is the DVR card I have http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/geo...-included.html
This would record 8 camera's at about 8 fps and also give you the ability to have 8 more cameras in the future if needed. The card splits 60 fps between how many cameras you have hooked up. It will display for monitoring full 30 fps per camera it only records at the lower rate. You don't need to record full 30 fps footage it takes to much storage space.
Then you would have the price of a computer to put the card in.
+ install costs, that is really hard to say as cabling is expensive. It could be a lot depending on what you have to work with.
We don't have anyone monitor our camera's we just review footage as needed.

Re: New to Storage have a Security Question......
RandB That is the same system we use and it great. I bought the 36 camera dvr with 25 cameras. I have only 22 cameras online. Once the weather gets warmer I will finish out the install. I have found a few blind spots and will purchase a few more cameras. With the 22 so far I get anywhere from 20 to 25 day of recording on a 1 TB hard drive.
