  • Pre-Finished Buildings Glue / Film Residue?

For those who have new construction units, with pre-finished doors/headers...are you left with a sticky residue on the buildings once they remove the protective film?

I had some Rabco buildings installed. The headers/piers came with a blue protective film over them as they came pre-finished. Once the film was removed, that left a sticky/glue residue leftover, which holds onto dirt/bugs/etc.

Is everyone running into this same problem?

What did the manufacturer or the installer say about the sticky film????
Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can do today.

I haven't spoken to them yet. I wanted to educate myself on it first before bringing it up to them. Just wanted to know if this is common/normal or something I should be calling out.

Definitely reach out to your manufacturer.

Did you happen to have any extreme weather???
I hope they didn't knowingly install an inferior product!!

They did install them over the winter, so that might have played a role in it.

The piers/headers come with that thin protective film on it (like the plastic on your cell phone screen or other things that need to be protected). When it's removed there shouldn't be anything left behind, however, maybe due to the cold the "stinky stuff" got left behind.

How many doors have you peeled the protective film off of?
              Were they all sticky???

              I would not accept this!!
EVERYTHING is going to cling to those doors!!!

It's not the doors...it's the pre-finished (pre painted) piers and headers (the columns around the doors). All of theme had protective film, but not all of them have this glue residue left behind.

Both eBay and Amazon provide great deals for Trachte door hasps. The most challenging part about Trachte hasps is the installation difficulty. I wonder if a 24/7 locksmith nw6 service would be able to install it. I think there are some qualified locksmith specialists in safe fields able to open them,...

I can fully appreciate a good vent when it's needed!! And I can understand how the inept management of some facilities could be pretty annoying and give the whole industry a black eye, but I will tell you from experience that you can run these businesses without an on-site manager if you want. ...
