  • facility directional signs

We are opening a new facility and are going as automated as much as possible. We have another facility close by so someone will be a few miles away but nobody will be on site. We are working on numbering the units and trying to set it up so it is easy for customer to find their space. The layout of the facility is a bit confusing. We were going to put a map at each entrance but are considering color coding halls or areas... Has anyone done this or has suggestions on how to simplify the numbering to avoid people getting lost or frustrated because there is not staff on site?

Assign a letter to each building, A in front and work your way back. Let's say you have 300 units, in 50 unit increments-A1-A50 B51-B100 and so on, or A1-A50 then B1-B50 and so on. Put LARGE letters so they're easily seen. People will still not see them....but at least you have a landmark to direct them too...lol

I like that idea, ours is a little different, just because they are all inside one giant warehouse. That is true, nobody reads signs!

You can make each floor a different color as well, our elevators don't let tenants onto the wrong floor anyway (due to their code etc.) but that's an option. If they step out and see green when it's supposed to be orange? Big clue they're on the wrong floor.

Yes, I really like the color idea, and it does not require any reading! . Thanks for your input.
