I have no worries but if it does just remember how very busy the facilities were during the last one.

Recession hits and people start downsizing and store what they can't get in to the smaller home/apartment/condo.duplex etc.

Economy gets better and people move to bigger places and start to move out of the storage units.

Non what so ever. The economy here is slamming. The Fake news media keeps pushing it so people believe it and slow down on spending. Not me.

Come on people, I need help keeping the economy going strong. I can't do it myself, although my wife thinks I am trying.

While I am still at 96% to 98% full most of the time, I have noticed a slow down in calls and walk ins. People used to flock in. The other thing I noticed is that instead of people moving in and then saying they only need it for a month or two and then stay over a year, they are now actually moving in to places quicker and having shorter stays at the facility.

No worries, the last recession packed our place. Plus I cannot do anything about it. My wife? With what she buys at Amazon she will keep the economy afloat by herself.

I help the economy too at Amazon. Like I saw on a comedy show one time when one character was explaining Amazon Prime to another older person and she said, "Oh Yeah! You haven't lived till you receive your Amazon order of baby carrots and a new snow shovel in the same box".

slight, I don't know all the specifics but I try to keep my eyes open for things that can help boost / attract new business.

I've noticed a slow down in rentals on smaller units, 5x10 and 10x10. Our heated units and our larger 10x20 and 10x24 (unheated) are nearly full.

Same here AmyLou, we have a ton of smaller units available. Im hoping we can get some kind of special going for those sizes we need to fill. I suggested we do a 3 months at half off deal on 5x10 and smaller units so people have a place to store their Christmas presents.

feels a little like Stockholm Syndrome. By feeding these aggregators we're hurting our own industry. In the name of possibly increasing occupancy percentage we're giving away a large slice of our income and future viability. Income that we as the business developers, owners and operators have taken...

I definitely had more rentals with Sparefoot. I was using Storedge as well. A big question to ask each person once the reservation comes in is how long they plan to store for. Each time a Sparefoot reservation rents for 1 month and takes off, you're losing money. I would politely decline those reservations....

Following up on this, just wondering if anyone is having success with Sparefoot/Storable Marketplace for renting up a new facility. It makes sense to try and be visible everywhere you possibly can be, especially for a newer facility or expansion, but I do see some of the downfalls:
