Our (state of CA) rental agreement limits the goods stored to $5K. This has never made sense to me because we aren't responsible for stored goods. Why would we care how much they're storing, i.e., goods limit? Does anyone know the rationale/history for this? thank you.

Because if, for example, the roof leaks and you don't fix it right away, then the liability to replace their items is on you, and you don't want to pay out more!
Or anything else that might happen that could be found to be your liability. It's to limit your losses.MamaDuke
