What brand DVR and cameras are you using, and where to purchase?

We use Lorex 4K Ultra HD and love them! I've seen them advertised thru Costco but I don't know where these were purchased.

QSee. I used to buy them from Costco.com (better stuff online the in the actual store) but now get them direct the the manufacturer web site. I buy the computer networking equipment (wired router, PoE switches) from B&H Photo/Video out of NY. 1000' spools of wire from home depot or Menards.

I've recently been using HikVision products for both camera's and DVR's with good success. I have also used wireless technology to add cameras to existing facilities. I installed a box with a switch in it and an electrical outlet. Then I usually use 5 port switches and install the antenna.

This just requires power to the box and no other wiring, we them use PoE to power everything else.

You can also use the boxes as a repeater station for PoE power too. For instance in a wired facility I use a box with a switch on each building for shorter PoE runs to cameras.

We use Hikvision products as well. They have proven to hold up over time, and be of good quality. With that in mind, there is no price comparison between Hikvision and Costco cameras. Hikvision is a higher price point. You can install yourself, or have any low voltage electrician install for you.

Just a suggestion, Don't tell you customers that you have video surveillance unless you are going to pay someone to sit and watch the monitors all day. Per Scott, legal, they are being recorded, but no one is literally sitting their watching the monitors all day so you have Camera's recording all activities.

I show camera scenes on a big screen tv in the office and I tell the tenant that I have more but choose to only show what they see. They know they record. I get some people that think it is ok to go too fast on the facility. I tell people that I have radar on my security cameras. Never had a push back yet when I said that.

I'm a lover of watching cameras, I even have another site pulled up during the day on extra computers watching the going ons as they are one of our trouble areas. Can't tell you how many times i've picked up a phone and called the office to alert them of something that shouldn't be going on. Literally just was on the phone with the site manager talking about something else and saw on camera some shirtless hobo looking guy in the climate control building popping off a propane torch for who knows what reason into the air.

I currently have a an old system, but it was damaged in a storm.
When I was in the market for the system I have now, it was a nightmare dealing with the local security camera people. I called 6 or 7 dealers to get a quote, only 3 of them ever showed up, and then only one of the 3 got a quote back to me. That is the norm around here for some reason.
I am going to install the new system on my own, since it should be easy since there is one existing now.

                    Thanks for the help everyone.

My security guy installed Q-See also. Iím on vacation now and love the app on my phone and iPad to watch all the camera views from anywhere.
In no way affiliated with Storman software.

Storman does your phone or ipad have a dictionary? You need to look up the meaning of vacation! LOL jk...But a mental break away from business is nice when you can get it. Nothing makes an off day feel like they never existed like having to deal with work situations constantly.

We hired a security camera specialists and they used what they thought was best. We didnt go top of the line because this isnt fort knox but we did go with better than average system. I dont know the name of the cameras or control box.
