I've been lucky-my biological mom understood she couldn't take care of me so she gave me up. (I was 5 or 6). Then I was adopted by a great family and my adopted (REAL) Mom was a great support in my life. She had COPD (lung issues) and after my oldest had been born her and dad visited us in South Carolina. We went to Chimney Rock State Park. There are 2 ways to get up to the top, an elevator or a thousand steps (maybe not than many). She stuck it out with the stairs, all of the way to the top. My favorite photo of her is her seated on a bench at the top, glowing with accomplishment.
That was my mom-pushing through adversity, and her example is what I hold onto when I go through tough times. She also was supportive when I reached out to my bio family again. Just an amazing woman. I miss her a lot."The comeback is always stronger than the setback."
