Similar for me. My wife and I own the facility and live here. Also, my other job is currently remote from here, which is nice, but it ties me to the office too much. So not much changed for me either.
We didn’t have too much impact from COVID and 95% of my rentals are done online,...

If I’m stuck inside,,, in the garage, I have a golf simulator that is fun. But I’d rather be doing almost anything outside. Gardening, Jeeping, ATVing playing real golf or shooting at the range. Anything beats being inside...!

I put in a hydroponics setup in my basement to provide fresh greens and tomatoes, and will only use my outdoor garden for canning veggies. Looking into a good dehydrator too. When I fully retire from my second job, I am planning on getting a few chickens, both meat and egg layers. We are in the county...

I don't know if you call it retiring, but I plan on leaving my corporate job and focus on the self storage properties... This year! (I hope)
It will seem like retiring to only have one job!Last edited by SteveMac; 29 March 2021, 05:31 PM.

My son lives in St Charles. I think it is a law that you have to be a Blues fan up there......

You know, speaking of this subject, WHY can't the latches be made so they can't be locked unless they are fully engaged? It would seem they can change the spacing on the double slots to an extent that they could not be locked open. I need to invent that...

Agreed. It is one of the things we look for in our walk throughs. It became such a nuisance, that we put a blurb about it in our move in confirmation,"Latch and Lock! Before leaving your unit, be sure the slide latch is fully engaged and your lock is in place. Pull up on the door to be sure you...

The contractor should let you know for sure, but the buildings will need some sort of footer around the perimeter, so there will have to be some digging anyway, and there may be other sections that need footers or piers depending on what is load bearing. My guess is, by that point, they will dig up...

I agree with everyone else. We follow the lease, in case we have to fall back on it. Per our Missouri statute, I am even a couple of days beyond what is the minimum required, just to be safe. The cost in lost revenue is low enough, that I like the peace of mind.
We had one of those entitled...

Being the owner with a heavy cash investment, I am motivated to be the best employee I have. Coffee helps too....

I no longer go into a bricks/mortar office. I am now working my regular job virtually from my self storage office, and trying to transition into full retirement from the corporate world. That reminds me, I have another day to "X" off the calendar...

Interesting. We have had StorEDGE since 2017 (now owned by Storable) and have had no major issues. There were some credit card processing issues a couple of months ago, but that appears to be resolved. The software has worked very well for us....

We do StorageAuctions.com and like the service.
If we had someone win an auction and pay, but not vacate timely,,, then we abide by the terms of the auction. They move it or lose it along with the deposit. Thankfully, we make that very clear at the outset and haven't had any issues. We...

No reservations here either, and I don't hold units. If they want a unit on in two weeks, and I have one available, they rent it today or risk losing it. I do waiting lists, but also explain that they have a short window of time to respond, or risk losing it to the next in line.
I am fortunate...Last edited by SteveMac; 24 March 2021, 04:22 PM.
